Sunday, October 11,2009 We had an excellent participation in our Great Communion Service from both First Chrisitan and our congregation. We had 53 present for this event. I want to offer a special thank you to everyone who had a part in making it the success it was. I always enjoy a chance to be with Randy and share a sevice together. Praise the Lord for this great celebration of our efforts to fulfill the prayer of Jesus in John 17:20-26. May God help us to do better in the future than we have done in the past. If you are interested in learning more about our history and the Restoration Movement, please visit this website, www.mun.ca/rels/restmov. This is put together and maintained by Dr. Hans Rollman. It is a very valuable resource and used in Restoration History Classes at Abilene Christian University. He spoke at several session at Summit this year. Check it out. This morning we will continue our study of Peter's second epistle. Our lesson this morning is entitled: The Certainty of God's Word. We will be studying 2 Peter 1:12-21. The apostle Peter put great stress on the reliability of the Word of God. Both in his own writings and in his recorded sermons he frequently called attention to the divine faithfulness with regard to statements and promises. It is our certainty of faith in God's word that motivates us to serve God and it is a lack of faith that leads to a lack of action. Why should we believe God's word? Peter gives us some good reasons which gives us something to hold on to! Our regular Care Groups will meet today. Here are there times and places: Zane Rhyne's Group: Meet at Rhyne home @ 5 p.m. Don Robert's Group: Meet at Rush home @ 1:30 p.m. Brad Simon's Group: Meet at church @ 6 p.m. I will be showing the second part of the video of : One Nation Under Who? to Zane's Care Group at 5 p.m. I hope you will make every effort to attend one of our three Care Groups. You will be glad that you did! Keep in mind the ladies have their annual retreat coming up next weekend, October 16th-18th. It sound like a great weekend retreat is being planned. I hope all the ladies who can will attend. It is good to see our attendance on the rise. Last week we had 119 in attendance. This past Sunday we had 125 in attendance, and we still had serveral out sick or traveling. Thanks for being here. You are missed when you are out. I love you with the love of the Lord. ---Bob |
